I am Nurse Miriam and I absolutely love my unique healthcare role as a community/school nurse. I am a Denver native and a proud University of Colorado at Anschutz alumna. I am a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado and am also a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN). Before I became a nurse, I was a certified veterinary technician for approximately 9 years. This being said, I love discussing health, even when it’s about our four-legged friends!
I started as an employee with Denver Public Schools in 2018 and served as the District Nurse Care Coordinator with DPS’ nursing administration team during the school year of 2021/2022. Toward the end of that school year, I was asked to support McMeen as the school nurse. My experience with everyone here at McMeen (students/families and staff) was such a professionally and personally fulfilling and warm experience that I decided to return to in-school nursing with McMeen in the 2022/2023 school year.
I have two beautiful daughters who are both DPS students. This 2022/2023 school year, my older daughter will be in 8th grade at McAuliffe International School and my younger daughter will be in 4th grade at Palmer Elementary.  This summer I picked up an adjunct teaching position with the Practical Nursing department at Community College of Denver.  For leisure, I enjoy walking the dog, hiking, riding my bike, practicing yoga, reading and binge watching TV series.
I look forward to collaborating with the McMeen community in order to keep our students safe and healthy.
