Dr. Julie Wienski (a.k.a. Coach Jules) enthusiastically enters the 2024-2025 school year as the full-time physical education (P.E.) teacher at McMeen. She served as the long-term P.E. guest teacher in Spring 2024. Coach Jules has over 20 years of experience in physical education, sport, teaching, coaching, and recreation. Prior to her transition into K-12 and McMeen, she taught as a college professor of sport management and higher education, served as an NCAA Head Tennis Coach, and owned a fitness/wellness business coaching all ages. She earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D) from Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver. Additionally, she has an M.S. in Exercise Sport Studies and Coaching and B.A., both from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She is passionate about teaching elementary physical education and supporting the whole child in linguistically diverse educational settings. Her teaching is student-centered incorporating social justice and equity, and she believes that physical education is a powerful way to teach social-emotional learning while fostering community and belonging in school.

Coach Jules loves spending time with her family – her wife, Bryn, a professor and researcher of school psychology, stepkids Landon and Claire who also attend DPS, and her beloved pups River and Mica. She enjoys playing pickleball, volleyball, racquet sports, skiing, and going to the dog park. 🙂
