We are excited to celebrate the new structures and routines we have put in place in our cafeteria this year. Creating a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment is one of our top priorities, and we are setting high expectations for all of our students.
Through a positive approach and clear expectations, we are transforming the lunch experience into a time when students can enjoy their meals, make new friends, practice good manners, and build important life skills. Students and adults are working together to model respect, responsibility, cleanliness, teamwork, and care for one another. We are also focusing on reducing food waste and helping students take ownership of keeping our cafeteria clean.
We are so proud of the effort our students are making. Each Friday, we celebrate our Lunchroom Leaders by recognizing students who demonstrate our cafeteria expectations and help create a positive environment. When an entire group works together to meet expectations, they may also earn extra recess as a celebration of their teamwork.
Our cafeteria is becoming a place where students can feel proud, connected, and responsible, and we are so excited to see this positive change taking shape.
Ask your student: “How does lunch feel this year?” We think you’ll love hearing what they have to say.
