Through this approach, we teach students to identify how they are feeling and various strategies they can use when they are having big feelings. When we harm someone else, we focus on why that happened, what harm was done, and how we can repair that harm. Our Peace Room is a space where students can go to calm down when they are having big emotions, where they learn social and coping skills, and where we at times support them with their restorative conversations.

The model is one of immersion at the lower-grades, with 90% of instruction being in Spanish. As students move up through the grades, this increases to 50% in Spanish and 50% in English.

The school also owns some parts of the garden which we can use for educational purposes with students. Our amazing families have been instrumental in maintaining and promoting this beautiful space!

This is when they are transitioning from daily naps and integrated play, to a more structured academic setting. Teachers work diligently to support this transition by including lots of hands on activities that mimic play, but have a structure more typical to what they will encounter in the rest of their school experience.

Teachers will introduce topics whole-group, then provide integrated opportunities for students to engage in play around these topics. We strongly believe play is best form of learning for our youngest students.
