Lockdown Letter 8/30/2018

Lockdown letter 8-30-18

August 31, 2018

Dear McMeen Elementary Families,

Yesterday afternoon, our school was placed in a lockdown. This event lasted approximately an hour. We observed an unidentified person enter our building. In order to locate this person quickly, security placed the school on lockdown. The person was located and determined not to be a threat.

A lockdown is instituted when a threat or a possible threat has been identified inside of the building or in close proximity of the school. All exterior and interior doors are locked and students are confined to a secure place. No entry or exit to the school is allowed during this response.

Please know that at no time was safety to students or staff at risk. During the lockdown, students and teachers did exactly as expected in this type of situation. I would like to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority at McMeen. This is why it is critical to always enter the front doors only Holly and sign in at the front desk. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

We look forward to seeing families at our scheduled 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 meeting, when we will talk about curriculum, Title 1 and school safety.

Sincerely,

David Adams, Principal
